Support Levels

To ensure transparency regarding the stability and reliability of features in LightVM, we categorize our development stages into three distinct support levels. This helps you understand what to expect when integrating these features into your projects.

1. Stable Support

Features under the Stable level are production-ready. We provide long-term support for these components, ensuring they are robust and reliable.

  • Reliability: High. Tested thoroughly across supported environments.
  • Maintenance: Our highest priority. Bug reports and issues in this tier receive immediate attention and dedicated fixes.
  • Usage: Recommended for all production environments and critical applications.

2. Preview Support

The Preview level is for features that are functional and generally stable but may still undergo minor API changes or refinements before reaching the Stable stage.

  • Reliability: Good. Sufficient for testing and development, though edge-case bugs may occasionally occur.
  • Maintenance: Active. We value community feedback and prioritize fixing reported issues that hinder adoption.
  • Usage: Ideal for early adopters and developers who want to leverage new features before they hit the stable release.

3. Nightly Support

The Nightly level represents our experimental edge. These features are actively under development, and we are constantly iterating on their design and implementation.

  • Reliability: Variable. Expect breaking changes, experimental API surfaces, and potential bugs.
  • Maintenance: Limited. While we appreciate bug reports, we may not be able to address every issue immediately due to the fast-paced nature of these experiments.
  • Usage: Strictly for experimentation and testing purposes. Not recommended for production use.
